The new Moto G7 is the top handset of four smartphones to bear the ‘G7’ name, and it openly swaps the budget-friendly Moto G6 that was released in 2018.
Motorola hasn’t reinvented its leading G series product with the G7; rather it is provided a series of incremental improvements over the Moto G6 to make sure its reasonably priced handsets stay applicable in 2020.

MOTO G7 is slightly larger and a bit heavier in weight as compared to MOTO G6. Both smartphones have a glass front and back, but Moto G6 has an aluminum frame and Moto G7 has a plastic frame. Both phones are splash resistant.

MOTO G6 has an Android 8.0 (Oreo) platform which is upgradable to Android 9.0 (Pie). It has chipset Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 (14 nm), Octa-core CPU, and Adreno 506 GPU. MOTO G7 has Android 9.0 (Pie). It has Qualcomm SDM632 Snapdragon 632 (14 nm) chipset, octa-core CPU, and Adreno 506 GPU.

Moto G7 has upgraded the platform and chipset, but the CPU and GPU of both smartphones are the same.

Conclusion:
Both smartphones are quite close to each other. If you have to select one, it might be very difficult to select. From the above-detailed comparison, I have established that MOTO G6 is a better option because it costs less and offers almost the same features as Moto G7 does. Moto G6 runs on an older platform but can be upgraded. The only plus thing Moto G7 has is a bigger display. So if you are fond of bigger screens go for Moto G7. Otherwise, Moto G6 is the better option, providing the same camera, battery, storage, and sensors.
